Preconstruction Planning

Zach will meet with you to discuss your unique project and how best to see it to completion. Zach takes the time to be thorough in the planning phase to ensure projects run smoothly and efficiently.

Project Management

Once your project is ready to start, Zach will be with you every step of the way from prep/demo all the way through a final cleaning of the worksite. His team of subcontractors are the best in the Twin Cities and he works closely with them to give you the best remodeling experience.

About Us

Zach first learned his love for woodworking from his grandfather. An avid woodworker, he often invited Zach into his woodshop to see the projects he was working on and to show him new tools he had acquired. Zach’s passion for woodworking continued to grow while he attended Northfield High School in 2001. He made a mission style table and hutch for his parents in woods class, often devoting 2-3 hours a day to finish these projects.

After high school, Zach attended Luther College where he majored in Elementary Education and Spanish. In the summers starting in 2004, Zach began working for a local painting company in Northfield, where he began learning the wide range of skills needed to be a great painter. After graduating college in 2007, and a brief stint of teaching in kindergarten and second grade, Zach was able to get back into woodworking with a remodeling company based out of St. Paul, MN. Zach spent two years with this company developing and honing many of the skills that are necessary in fine craftsmanship.

In 2010, Zach branched out and began running his own remodeling company. He enjoyed making new connections with homeowners, the diversity of projects, and the pride of entrepreneurship. From 2014-2018 Zach worked as a project manager where he continued to build on his carpentry skills and work with clients.

In 2018, Zach restarted Gardner Building and Remodeling to better focus on individual customers in order to give them a more personalized approach and to see their remodeling dreams come to life.

I have worked with Zach on two projects. I am very happy with the results of both. The first was rather a small effort to modify my kitchen so that I could install a microwave over the range. Zach did an excellent job of matching the existing woodwork and building a space for the microwave. The second was larger and part of an ongoing effort to remodel my house. Zack provided a project timeline and stuck to that timeline, finishing the project on time.
